Bad Heroes - Devlog

Week 1: Initial commit.

Came up with a game idea a week before, so this week I've been making it with Godot and Klavdia. The working title is Bad Heroes. And it's a superhero roguelite action beat 'em up. Started by creating a design document with some basic ideas, then worked on the combat and enemy behavior.

Had to figure a lot of stuff out along the way like the way camera should move or how even the combat should work besides just punching enemies and avoiding being punched.

Biggest challenges seem to be in the most simple things. Spent like an hour trying to explain to Klavdia the mechanics of camera following the cursor (coming up with such phrasings as "variable radius of an invisible circle in the center of the screen and the player and the cursor are on the opposite sides of it") before finally coming up with references for her to work with. Eventually shipped with a camera inspired by SYNTHETIK.

Next week

More behavior tweaks. Maybe I'll try to slow the game down a bit, now it feels too hectic. Hoping to start learning 3D modeling and all that stuff. Klavdia said I must go through a mandatory 40-hour Blender tutorial but I'll try to speedrun it. After all, I've been observing a three-dimensional universe my whole life, how hard can it be?
